Lazy Racer - Keep On Running Away

Lazy Racer never played a live gig; they only existed within the confines of rehearsal halls, recording studios and sound stages.
They were the brainchild of British engineer/producer Glyn Johns,
who hand-picked the English and American players in the group.
The line-up that assembled at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas was Tim Renwick (vocals, lead guitar), Bill Lamb (vocals, guitar, piano), Kelly Harland (vocals), Tim Gorman (vocals, keyboards), Henry Spinetti (drums), and Dave Markee (bass). Their self-titled debut was released on A&M Records in 1979. "Keep On Running Away" was the first single from that album; it features Tim Renwick on lead vocal and was written by Renwick and Chris White (of The Zombies). Lazy Racer recorded a second album, "Formula II," with bassist Pat Donaldson joining the group. It was released on A&M in 1980. The band filmed two videos to promote singles from that record, which can be viewed on YouTube. The titles are "Heart of Hearts," and "Jumpin' The Gun."

I was the co-writer on six songs the band recorded, took the photos used in this video, and was fortunate enough to share some of their adventures.

This newly remastered version sounds better and better every time I hear it! I've enjoyed revisiting the music of this great lost band which featured some of the greatest musicians of the post-Beatles era. Now if only some hip boutique label would re-release the albums...
