Russia and Venezuela boost diplomatic ties - 26 Nov 2008

Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, is set to arrive in Venezuela for a visit that coincides with the arrival of several Russian warships.

Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo reports from Caracas where the two countries participate through a series of joint naval exercises, which has not happened in South America since the Cold War.

I think that Venezuela would not have made so many agreements with Russia if the U.S. had not put so many USA military bases in the region and made so many military agreements. Especially in my country (colombia). I understand both sides, USA-Colombia and Russia-Venezuela. I respect the agreement of Russia and Venezuela
