A very few of the "Harmony guys" don't seem to hear authentic P13 tone in my reissue. I've posted the reasons, but seeing and hearing is believing. The differences you will hear are because the vintage pickup is encased in a metal cover on all sides, this really darkens the top end, and as a pickup maker is something most of us avoid as being undesirable. This is why alot of players take the covers OFF their humbuckers. The other thing is the vintage ones have very weak magnets, possibly alnico 3, my version uses alnico 2 and holds a good charge, so mine have a more plucky top end, preditably. There are things I can do to tone this down, but my incarnation will find more versatile uses in modern amps, the vintage ones in some amps just work very poorly due to overall muddiness. Anyway, enjoy the video, I enjoyed the experiment, if anyone wanted one and wanted it to be dark like the originals there are a few tricks I can do to obtain that tone, watch the movie for tips......Dave

  • Yes, my website is listed at the end of all my videos.

  • Hi Dave! I've been trying to get in touch with you about them P13's you make (now I'm also interested in the cc90...) but with no luck. Is the e-mail on your home page correct?

  • @Mrtonecruiser I have been getting your emails and have replied five times now, TURN OFF YOUR SPAM FILTER!

None of m emails are getting thru to you. Look in your junk mail folder, or contact me here directly via messaging....

  • should have known Dave -thank you -we actually play a Goree song"rock awhile"-any thoughts on the harmony reissue h62 p13s-also who is the music at the beginning of the zephyr blues pickup video? thanks

  • I've not seen the new Harmony P13 reissues but I'd bet money they just ordinary P90s, they have to be. Why? P13's are not factory production friendly and would be horribly expensive to reproduce in modern times. They use paper bobbins and a steel machined core. I'm sure the Harmony's are made in Korea, so all they did was make a look alike cover and put a P90 in it. If the cover is the same size as vintage I can build real P13's into it.

  • Hi Dave-can you please tell me who the music is at the end of this video-Early t-bone? Freddy? Lowell fulson? i would like to find it -Also i have one of the Harmony H62 reissues-I wondered if you have played one of them and what do you think of those reissue P13's?

  • Goree Carter. He was an early follower of TBoneWalker's and was kind of a "TBone clone." I dont think you can buy his albums in the US, I had to buy from a French company. Google his name and you'll probably find where you can get his albums, I think there are only two collections of his stuff.

  • Hi, I would say they are very close to the p13. Do you make these for sale?

  • Both pickups sound good but quite different.

Why not use alnico 3? The early 50s P90s were alnico 3 and I never understood why everyone uses alnico 2 when trying to reproduce them. Alnico 3 has a very different midrange and attack. Also, why not use Casino pickup covers if you want the metal-cover sound?

  • Hi Dave- Can you tell me who the music is at the end of this video?-old T-Bone? Freddy? Lowell fuson?-also, have one of the harmony H62 reissues-have you played one of these and what do you think of the reissue P13's?
