Chapter 1
Setting the scene

"I think I possibly might be missing Joe." Nicholas Jonas mused, raking a calloused hand through his mess of tangled curls. His older brother had left for California on holiday, visiting and bringing home his girlfriend to meet his brothers over this Christmas season. Not being close with her family and being curious about snow and of course her boyfriend's family, Lucy quickly agreed to travel back with him. The idea of Joe's girlfriend gave Nick a headache and a certain sense of inner-peace. The headache was the thought of another prissy bitch coming into his home and whining about everything, but Joe seemed to enjoy the hot and vicious types. The peaceful thought was he'd be able to stop worrying about his own girlfriend, Sage, and Joe. His other brother Kevin dragged him out of his quiet reflection.

"Come on, we have to go get Joe and Lucy. I think their flight should be in anytime." Kevin stood, shoving his iPhone in the back pocket of his too-tight jeans. Between the 21 year old Nick, the 24 year old Joe, and the 27 year old Kevin, they were all they had for family. Still famous, still hounded after, and still doing music minus the whole squeaky clean image Disney had forced them to keep once upon a time. The only one who seemed to have it together was Kevin, whom had a house and an expecting wife, Victoria. Not that Joe and Nick minded living together, their house was huge and they got along relatively well, minus the competitive atmosphere. "Is Sage coming?" Kevin glanced back at his younger brother whom was still attempting to drag himself off the couch.

Nick shot Kevin a less than flattering look. "I have no idea, whatsoever. I don't doubt shell be here when we get back with Joe though. Shes been avoiding me again, so obviously shes mad at me as usual." He added sourly. Kevin shut his mouth, forgetting the sensitiveness of the subject.

The two brothers drove to the airport in silence; the soft sound of the purring engine filled their ears and melted away the tension that was palpable only moments ago. Nick hated airports, the mess, the lack or order, and all those people. Uch. He thought as he dodged a runny-nosed kid. His iPhone vibrated in the pocket of his dark blue skinny jeans, pulling it out his eyes quickly scanned the screen. 'When will Joe be back?' -Sage He fought the urge to ignore her completely but instead just typed back they were getting him now. He didn't doubt Sage loved him, or that he loved her it was just difficult to say the least. Between Joe's flirtatious behavior and her own sometimes Nick couldn't help but feel a little insecure about them. A toothy smile replaced the grimace on his face as he felt his brothers arms wrap around his body in an embrace that could only be described as one of someone who terribly missed their younger brother.
Joe! Nicks husky voice boomed out as he ruffled his brothers hair. As Joe took a step back he finally got a glimpse of who he assumed to be Lucy. Surely, this raven haired beauty with piercing green eyes couldn't be Joe's girlfriend. She didn't have the D cup chest, or bleached blond hair that Joe seemed to gravitate to so often.

"Nick, Kevin... He nodded to his brothers. This is Lucy." His arm wrapped around her shoulder, squeezing it gently. Nick shut his mouth slightly before extending his hand, and exchanging names with her. Once everyone was introduced they grabbed the bags and headed back to the house for dinner.

As Nick expertly predicted Sages car was parked in the driveway of their house. Taking time to avoid any ice mishaps and emergency room trips they took an exceptionally long time to even reach the back door.

"Missing California yet?" Nick shot a look in Lucy's direction. "Not just yet, I couldn't even dream of leaving until I see you slip and fall." She teased back, gripping the fence to keep herself from falling face first into a slush puddle. Maybe she wasn't going to be half bad, a small smile curled up on the corner of Nicks lips. Once inside, Sage was the first thing to appear and the first thing to disappear. Nick watched with wide eyes as she breezed past him and into Joe's arms. He had dropped the bags he was carrying and wrapped her tightly in his arms. "Hi babe, no my day was fine. Thanks for asking. How about your day?" Nick mumbled bitterly to himself, turning so abruptly he nearly plowed into Lucy who was bent over, picking up her suitcase. "They say only crazy people talk to themselves." She smirked up at him, hoisting the bag over her shoulder. He mimicked the cocky look on her face in a childish manner and stormed off into the living room.

wow dude your back! i seriosuly thought you were never coming back on. were you grounded for that long cause if you were than holyshit thats intense and i thought i had it bad with my beast of a stepmom. i understand if you didnt update cause you never got around to it though since haha im no example no one reads my fanfics but the people who do are often left hanging for months before i update...haha anyways i love this new story :D
