Nur wenige europäische Musiker haben für ihre künstlerischen Verdienste die Ehrenbürgerschaft der historischen Hauptstadt des Jazz, New Orleans, erhalten. Unter ihnen findet sich auch der Name von Jan Jankeje, des deutschen Musikers mit slowakischen Wurzeln, der nach seiner gut 30jährigen Aktivität über 10 Schallplatten und Hunderte von Zusammenarbeiten u.a. mit Künstlern vom Format eines Benny Watres, Doc Cheathan, Al Casey, Les Paul, Eigen Cicero und Oscar Klein vorzuweisen hat. Ausser durch seine Filmvertonungen - darunter der letzte Film von Fassbinder mit Jeanne Moreau - tut sich Jan Jankeje ebenso durch seine brillante Beherrschung des Swingrepertoires hervor.

The Slovakian-born double bassist and bandleader Ján Jankeje is a well known entity admid the Sinti as well as the goy jazz scene. The European jazz community is well aware of his extraordinary artistic qualities and he is being regarded one of the top protagonists of his instrument. He can proudly claim to have discovered Pierre Lagrne already in 1979, having subsequently literally travelled the globe with him. Having performed in worlds most famous venues like the Carnegie Hall in New York and with illuminaries like Doc Cheatham, Benny Waters, Al Casey, Stephane Grappelli, Jozef Reinhardt (Bruder von Django), Charly Antolini, Oscar Klein and many others, he was awarded a Honorary Citizenship of New Orleans for his extraordinary merits regarding matters jazz-musical. „Ján Jankeje is Europes most swinging and impressive double bassist (Jaco Pastorius).

Oltre 30 anni d'attività alle spalle, più di 10 dischi all'attivo, esperienze nel mondo del cinema come autore di colonne sonore, numerose collaborazioni con nomi illustri come Benny Waters, Al Casey e Oscar Klein, fanno di Jan Jankeje uno dei jazzisti europei più produttivi.
Ad Ascona il bassista formerà con Frantisek Havlicek al sax e clarinetto e Mirko Klimes al banjo, la Jan Jankeje's Mobile Band, un trio di puro dixieland che coinvolge e diverte.

Jan Jankeje is one of Europe's most productive jazz musicians: he has a career of over 30 years, more than ten recorded albums, experiences in the film industry as composer of soundtracks, numerous collaborations with renowned artists such as Benny Waters, Al Casey and Oscar Klein. In Ascona the bassist will perform together with the Jan Jankeje's Mobile Band together with saxophonist and clarinetist Frantisek Havlicek and banjo player Mirko Klimes: a trio of pure dixieland which will entertain and involve the public.
