Vedrans World - Camera by Christoff555

Fleeing war in Bosnia, 10 year old Vedran and his Dad live as refugees in Denmark. Yet Vedran pines for his mother who tarried too long and found herself trapped in a war zone.

Finally escaping the ongoing holocaust, Vedran's mother joins them in a refugee centre in Denmark, only to discover that her husband has in the interim found himself a new flame in the form of a blond-haired Red Cross worker at the centre and her inner conflict and resentment grows, meanwhile Vedran finds himself thrust into a war zone of his own.

This video was created in 1994 with funding from the Danish Refugee Council and with the participation of actual Bosnian refugees then living at the center.

None of them had any video making experience and I was engaged to be the sole camera operator and technical adviser for the project that lasted 4 months. It was filmed using BetaCam SP, but because this is only a VHS copy, the quality is much lower than the original version that premiered on the wide screen.

The actors playing Vedran and his father were also father and son in real life, too, and although the script called for him to have been named "Darko" in the film, then eight year-old Vedran adamantly rejected this notion, insisting he instead be called by his real name.. and so he was.

Vedran was a truly remarkable child performer, and though he had absolutely no acting experience prior to the filming of this production, he and all the others did a superb job.

The original movie weighed in at 55 minutes, of which this is only a few scenes. There are a few more scenes among my uploads for those interested.
