allot of gunner horses are deaf so maybe he cant hear and looking at his surroundings and rider is his way of paying attention and asking whats next.

I rode this horse. Gunner. Very delightful horse. His slides were amazing, right now, he is still working on flying changes to get them the time asked since he hasn't done a show in a few months.

The splash overo gene is inherited commonly with the gene for hearing because the loci are located very close on the same chromosome. Gunner does happen to be deaf and a lot of his offspring are as well.
It certainly does not stop him from being an incredible horse though thats for sure

@MrSpike71 I have a question for you. Why would a silent video mean the horse is deaf?
I don't think he's fidgety. He's just looking at who's on his back. The way he does it makes me think that he's an affectionate, curious horse. It's almost as though he's saying, "You doing okay up there?"
