@TheMortalOne No I wouldn't say its' a joke. I'd say they could be compared, they just aren't overall similar. Nonetheless they both have strategic components to the game as well as tactical understanding of the opponent. Some don't, but many people who mention chess to starcraft include it as a combination of other things, like football or heck even MMA or something to illustrate the real-timeness of it, as well as other things like poker or magic the gathering.
