If you listen to the Wagtail's birdcall, you will understand it, (forever!), as "Sweet, pretty little creature", which is obviously what it is. They are voracious insect eaters, and I suspect the hanging around and bothering pets is because they are more likely to "score" a meal nearby!
That they will attack much larger birds, that could have them for a snack, shows they are quite game and plucky little creatures as well!

Willy wagtails SEEM cute and friendly but they're ACTUALLY defending their territory. They try to scare you away LOL!! Sometimes they swoop infront of my bike when i'm riding and they also kind of hop up to scare you away, trying to get as close as they can until they get too scared and back up.

They're very cute and very bossy. They love swooping other birds. I've seen one chasing a dog once hehe

there's a wonderful Aboriginal tale about how the Willy Wagtail came to be.Apparently a young warrior would not learn the dances of his tribe,but prefered to do his own thing.so the elders tranformed him into a bird as punishment,and to this day he dances his own improbable moves.
I love Willy Wagtail.See 'em in my backyard all the time.
