History of el Chorro de Quvedo:

300 years ago the villagers had to go for water to a distant creek, which waters descend from the mountains of Montserrate and Guadeloupe, to fill casks by donkey.
To save time and efforts of people, the Father Francisco de Quevedo in 1832 decided to put tubes from that place to ensure that water into the famous fountain which is in the square. The Chorros were sources for people to collect water and carry it home.
In this square there is another important site in addition to the Chorro, it is la Hermita Del Humilladero. His name is not related to torture or inquisitorial practices; this chapel is named like this because people who came to the city usually entered to the chapel kneeling and bowing his head as a sign of humiliation.
The arch emblem of the square has in its structure twelve holes, symbolizing each of the huts which were founded Bogota.
In 1896 an embankment collapsed and all colonial buildings, houses, la Hermita and el Chorro, were destroyer but in 1969, began to rebuild the neighborhood of La Candelaria. Today you can see a relatively new build of el Chorro de Quevedo

Description:

On the 13th street with second road it is the square of el Chorro de Quevedo, it is a small square were some people assume that Gonzalo Jimenez de Quezada founded the city with 12 huts, but there are not documents to validate that theory. It is a popular place at night due to the influx of students from many universities in the center. All around, you can find small cafes and bars, the people also attend the square and sit around the pool and listen to storytellers, musical groups and so on.
The whole architecture can be observed at this place is colorful colonial-style, a mixed Spanish and indigenous in the atmosphere feels a bohemian, romantic and peaceful. The streets are cobbled and very narrow which adds a touch of magic.
You can find signs like si hay chicha or chicha en totuma this drink has changed its stage, the square is no longer the same and their clients, before they were humble characters in ponchos and sandals, now are young people who listen to rock, pop or reggaeton. Because young people take this drink, they do it because not want to lose the habits of their ancestor.

A Chorro's Fraiday:

Its Friday in the afternoon, and the Chorro begins to welcome students and young people in general, they comes to this place to have a different night than the others. In this place the great attraction is the chicha and the art environment, its turns into a place to get together for young and old people, who escape form the great city and get into an environment that looks like something else less Bogotá.

There I am, whit my friends, ready for drink`s night and a party day, after a friendly hug, we do a recollected for the chicha, that will be with us for the rest of the night. The night begins, and with it the first drunk people start to fall. We have already drunk five liters of chicha, and we go for the other two liters. In the environment you can feel the happiness of the people around, the smell of marihuana and the screams and songs of some others; that are as drunk as me.

I`m on my world drinking chicha, talking and discussing about irrelevant topics with my friends, while I`m seeing a mystical environment around me. I love this place, not just for the constructions, but for all that you can find here. There`s a mystical place, where you can share and have fun with a little bit of money in Bogota´s downtown.
