I do not know if it actually makes a difference. I ported and polished mine but I really do not notice any benefit to this. Maybe when I get andyinchville's tuned exhaust pipe, I'll see a difference, but not at this time.
Used the metal cutting stone on the dremmel, seemed to work good just enough to get that lip off, and slant the sides to match size of opening on engine. and so I did not feel like it was monkeying around with the structureal integrity of the intake.
