  • The majority of behavioral problems develop as a result of poor pack structure in the dog's living environment. the solution deals with establishing a pack structure.

The cooperative, loving nature of the canine and the similar social structures of humans and dogs form a foundation for the unique and enduring connection of two very separate species.

You can develop a new method for dog training

but you can not deny the fact dogs descend from wolves...

  • ...and shares many of its behavioral characteristics...Wolves and dogs communicate through body postures and facial expressions. Among the easiest emotions to read are aggression, fear, playfulness, and submission etc...They are Pack animals, den animals, hierarchal social structure, opportunistic omnivores - all these terms apply to both wolf and dog...

  • Domestication is the key difference between wolf and dog.

Once only a hunting partner, the dog quickly assumed the additional roles of guard dog and working partner. Finally, within the last 500 years or so, the dog became mans friend companion and family pet

Dog behavior refers to the collection of behaviors by the domestic dog -Canis Lupus Familiaris- and is believed to be influenced by genetic, social, situational and environmental causes The domestic dog is a subspecies of the gray wolf...

  • The percentage of genes shared between species should not be the basis for assuming behavioural similarity!

A better comparison with wolves could be with the lupine adolescent. Even then, genetic, environmental and epigenetic factors should all be taken into account. The domestic dog is now being studied as an entity in its own right, and the best way to understand a dogs behaviour and train it is to directly observe and study domestic dogs, not another species in a another environment.

  • The domestic dog is an extremely close relative of the gray wolf, differing from it by at most 0.2% of mtDNA sequence 15, 22, 23.

In comparrison, the gray wolf differs from its closest wild relative, the coyote, by about 4% of mitochondrial DNA sequence.

    Dogs are gray wolves.

  • A friend gave me a copy of this DVD and it utterly transformed my whole relationship with Toby (my English Springer). Stunningly effective.

  • Jan's DVD really helped me when training my staffordshire bull terrier - like in this clip she would drag my wife up the road when go out for a walk - after watching the dvd and applying Jan's techniques my young children can now safety walk the dog - remarkable! Buy the DVD I recommend it to everyone.
