To protect fragile goods in transit, the rear axle on the chassis can be equipped with air suspension. This prevents adverse mechanical vibrations from being transferred to the vehicle, thus protecting vehicle load and body structure. Suspension comfort is maintained due to the progressive-action spring characteristics for empty runs and when fully loaded.
The ECAS electronic control system ensures that the vehicle chassis is maintained at a preselected height, regardless of the load. If the height of the load floor needs to be changed -- for example when approaching a loading bay ramp -- this is achieved easily and quickly by using the manual control.
As an option, the driver's display can indicate current axle load -- immediately indicating when an impermissible overload occurs.
