Their reaction was how we all reacted (Except Trained Rescue Personal) when this first happened as most people could not see the magnitude of it at that point. If you listen to all the Howard coverage of 9/11 it was some of the best coverage of the event. If you wanted Reporters hiding their emotion to be all Pro watch TV news but for Real emotion listen to Howard.

It's easy to judge this with hindsight. At the time, no-one knew how appalling this day would be. Initially, it was a small plane crash which the emergency services would deal with. Sad, but relatively minor.17 minutes later, the entire world, & my personal happiness, changed in a heartbeat. I remember this day as if it were a mere moment ago. I recall saying to my colleagues that if this were a film plot no-one would believe it, it was so far-fetched. Howard Stern did a good professional job.
