Just Brilliant Elvis Costello is from a different planet. Thumbs up everybody if you agree. What's there to disagree about if he's not a musical genius then no one is!!!

Im a fan of these 2 songs...sadly Trust should have been recognised more methinks.

@joefax530 the whole album was and still is amazing. Way ahead of his time....

ftw

"Trust" was absolutely brilliant---problem was, it was released in the U.S. less than a year after "Get Happy," with the B-side package "Taking Liberties" thrown in there somewhere....a plethora of riches, and none ever got their due. Guy was too prolific for his own good.

This is one of my very favorite Costello albums! My best friend turned me on to it many years ago. My very favorite Elvis Costello songs is A Whisper to a Scream!

@beerrox711 Kind of amazing then that "Trust" ended up being one of his finest albums. At least in my opinion. (It's easily in his top three for me, along with "Get Happy!!" and "Blood and Chocolate.") Bowie was in a similar state during the "Station to Station" sessions and that's a top Bowie album for me as well...possibly even #1.

From a Whisper to a Scream is the better song. This was the last CD I bought by Elvis so it's a bittersweet moment when Elvis went Cole Porter. It was nice to know his first 5 years were so damn good with This Years Model the Creme de le Creme with songs like Lip Service, You Belong to Me, This Years Model, Big Tears, Little Triggers and a band that cooked. I did pick up When I was Cruel and liked 45 and the next two songs and Every day I Write the Book was good.
Spectacle is good though.

@TheNicholas0202 That was the song they did on 'Jim'll fix it" - a singularly awkward appearance, with Elvis as sullen as always, and Glenn T not even being introduced! Another sad truth,is that FaWTaS made it to nr 54,but was never acknowledged by the Guiness book of Singles!

From A Whisper To A Scream ft Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze.

Is Trust post-Blood and Chocolate? I thought I'd heard just about everything by Elvis from My Aim to B & C, but I've never heard these songs.

It's before B&C Trust was released Jan.1981
"This was easily the most drug-influenced record of my career... It was completed close to a self-induced nervous collapse on a diet of rough 'scrumpy' cider, gin and tonic, various powders... and, in the final hours, Seconal and Johnnie Walker Black Label."
