didn't think they would suck so bad at playing live. i love all their studio work though. maybe only the magic work of studio engineers, and not the so-called "Geniuses" Mr. Fagen and Mr. Becker. Ha!

This, of course, is The Dan back in '62, just before they met up with Jay & The Americans. Even tho' a tad unskilled, they had a futuristic sartorial sense, while seeming somewhat aged for early-to-mid 20's, but that's Speedball addiction for ya. Who knew, at that point, that they would soon be able to afford music lessons for the whole band? Soon, Walter and Donald were slaving in studio, just smart enough to hire quality musicians unlike these, bringing to life an unerringly strong jazz muse.
