LOL yet another problem with the skin modifier. Its not letting me change any of the weights on the vertex level using the Weight tool OR the Abs effect. I select a group of verts, then change the abs effect from 1 to .3, but the verts stay fully red. The exact same thing happens if I try the same thing using the Weight tool.
Whats going on lol?

Hey man I cant seem to resize ANY of the envelopes. I've never had this problem before, when I've used Biped rigs, but now, when I go into move mode, with edit envelopes selected, I try to drag the envelopes to a smaller size, but all it does is move those points around, staying locked at the same size...

@fritzstudio Great tutorial dude, and good model. Im having abit of trouble with my rig. It seems to be all inplace right and ive added the Skin modifier to the character mesh and added all the bones but for some reason if I move the bones the Mesh is not moving with it what so ever :S Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?

@fritzstudio Thank you very much! :D
for some reason the skin is grabbing verts i dont want, no matter how i move the selection, how do i unselect verts?

@Iforgot276 do you mean that a bone is affecting verts that you dont want affected by that bone (for example: verts on his foot are weighted to the hand).
If so, use the weight tool, select the verts in question, the weight tool will show you what bones are controlling the verts, along with a value of how much influence it has.
Select the bone that you dont want to affect the verts, and hit the 0 weight button. The weight tool is a great way to see whats controlling what.

thanks for the great tutorial. just one question... how do you get your entire character into one "editable mesh" before you apply the skin modifier?
that's what i'm stuck on. my character is made up of a bunch of different parts, so when i select all of them it doesn't say "editable mesh" like yours does.

@gunsntulips Select one of your Editable Meshes (you can collapse to editmesh as well, right click with the model selected and pick collapse to Editable Mesh) and either in the quad menu (right click) or in the Command Panel, pick Attach
That will pop up a dialog box asking you which meshes you want to attach together.
This will make One Mesh, made up of multiple Elements. You can then use Element sub Object mode to pick those meshes seperately once they are all attached together, if need be.

Just a quick question, what scale are you using? As in the unit setup and the height of your character? I know that the UT3_Male.max Character from UDN is set on Generic Units and 1 Unit = 1.0cm and the mesh is about 90 units high or ~93.669cm.

@CrimsonOrguss Yes, that is correct. And because this character is "short" for my game, he's about 50 units tall if i remember correctly.
