  • I thought it was kind of a tie, really.

I voted for DistantJ, just because I did enjoy the movie. It was not a great movie, but I was entertained.

  • Yeah I can't emphasize this enough, you must vote based on who made the best arguments otherwise the whole thing is useless.

  • This was great, can't wait to see who's gonna be in the next one and what the topic is gonna be!

  • The next one is a doozy, I will be defending Transformers 2 (Ducks for cover) while DistantJ (and most of the world) will be tearing it apart. I want these debates to be rough and..It will be damn entertaining. Depending on who wins that one will determine if a 3rd debate is needed as a tie breaker. Then the debate is open for other critics on the net.

  • i'm going with distant j,

but i do like your points to fury.

  • way too late, but a lot of memories are found to be stored in certain parts of you dna, and for that, I'd have to give it to fury, also, how would adamantium penetrate adamantium, when adamantium in the first place is impenetrable? Just because it is made out of the same material doesn't mean it's better, usually worse if it is made into a bullet and shot at something designed to withstand impacts.

  • My opinions:

    Round 1 Winner: Fury

    Round 2 Winner: Fury

    Round 3 Winner: DistantJ

Round 4 Winner: None. Both good points.

    Round 5 Winner: Fury

    My Verdict:

Having heard a lot of negative reviews before I saw it, I actually quite liked the movie. I will admit, however, that it was poorly written and the characters were underdeveloped. I would say that Fury is the winner of this debate because "badassness for the sake of it" just doesn't seem like a good point to me.

  • Distant j had a point about the adamantium bullets. however the memory trauma that Wolverine suffered was not inflicted by bullets... i could have sworn it was brain washing.

  • I gotta give this one to Fury. they both made great points. i thought the fights were really badass and the effects were good, but that was about the only thing that i liked. there were really no surprises in this movie. after seeing the trailers and leaked clips you wont even need to see it in theaters. this movie is an insult to the fans and Fox could've at least tried to entertain us.

  • I'd give it to Fury, but i don't blame DistantJ, it's hard to defend a crap movie. Even by the way he talks about it you can tell. But nonethless, in terms of a point system, it goes to Fury.

  • i think that fury made a number of points which were good considering plot and characters, but you cant overlook the entertainment value in simply seeing certain characters. as for following the comics, well most of the people seeing the movie will have only seen the previous 3. i have to say that whether or not this movie sucked depends entirely on what you wanted to get from watching it. i liked it, but that doesnt matter. you both made points that would win w/ like minded people 4/5 to4/5

  • I somehow think I need to be convinced how much X-Men Origins: Wolverine sucks. I'm not convinced yet, I still think it's awesome. But maybe you have a good point when you say it sucks, Fury.

  • Fury for the win.

DistantJ, like GameSheriff said, had many self-defeating arguments...He never seemed to go anywhere with his defence of the movie, other han seeming to not care that i was a poor movie.

  • A lazy film that doesn't even try to stay true to the source material. Wolverine demands a complex character study with action elements, not a dumbed down action flick. Wolverine could have been a great film along the lines of Spider-Man 2, but instead was turned into a cash-in along the lines of Spider-Man 3. With great comic book adaptations like Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, and the Dark Knight out there this film had no excuse to end up the way it did. I give the debate to Fury.

  • Interesting debate, but I thought DistantJ's arguments were ultimately self-defeating:

He tried ot defend the movie as a good popcorn flick, full of bad assery for the sake of bad assery; and he might even be right: but by passing the movie as a simple popcorn flick, he's pretty much admitting it fails as an Origin Story.

Origin Story movies are supposed to be deep, complex and story-driven; story and character development come first, and action is second. Not the other way around.
