Tired of Your Big Bank? Take These Steps to Switch to a Credit Union (& Sing-along)!

Thinking about moving you money from a big bank to a local credit union? It's easier than you think! Check out the steps below:

1. Find a credit union to join and check for eligibility. Use a credit union finder such as http://www.aSmarterChoice.org

2. Open the credit union account with the minimum account required. Many credit unions have a "switch kit" to help move accounts over easier too.

3. Order new debit card and checks for the account.

4. Switch over direct deposit from employer and any other automatic deposits.

5. Update and transfer any automatic, recurring, and electronic bill payments to the new account.

6. After all charges have cleared/posted from original bank account, close it.
