    Played with Zutty in NY 1959.....he told me my band was great..BECAUSE WE HAD NO PIANO PLAYER.......he said he believed they always messed up the tempo!....a truly great

    He also played in Fats Waller's band, as well as with Earl Hines in the Hot Five, two of the best pianists of all-time, and they damn sure didn't mess up the tempo either. Maybe he just meant most average-nobody piano players... idk.

    Zutty played in a trio with Bechet and Lil Armstrong and she didn't mess up the tempo for sure.
