Security forces are kind of more like "local" law enforcement where as OSI agents do more undercover criminal investigations, and counter-terror things. Security forces see more "war" related things though like deployments, patrols off base, and convoy security. However if you were planning on joining the AF for a career I would most definitely go with OSI. Personally, I plan on going sec forces for six to eight years then joining a fed law agency outside of the AF.
The AFOSI at Yokota AB, Japan need to be investigated. There are a lot of unethical and unprofessional practices being carried out. The agents believe that they are above the law and do not have to answer to anyone. They lie and cover each other tracks. To think that these horrible people are going to be one day working for Homeland Security, the FBI, or the CIA is very scary.
