Rochester, NY's Sleaze-Rock Garage-Punk kings UNCLE SAM performing "Fallout Shelter" from their 3rd and final album, "14 Women 15 Days". This was taken from a crappy Rochester cable-access show hosted by a radio personality called 'Brother Wease'. I think the band finally gave in and did the show as a favor to someone. They were pretty hammered.

Lineup includes: DAVE GENTNER - vocals; LARRY MILLER - guitar; BILL PUROL(R.I.P.) - bass; and TODD ' Grimey' GROMINGER - drums.

Uncle Sam, along with Immaculate Mary and The Chesterfield Kings, put Rochester, NY on the Garage-Rock/Glam-Punk map in the 80's and 90's. Influenced by The Stooges, MC5 and Alice Cooper, U.S. released 3 influential and highly collectible albums before splitting up in 1993.

Dave Gentner soon after formed THE VEINS, who still exist today. The Veins recorded their own version of 'Fallout Shelter' and are currently working on their 4th full-length album.

  • I don't have this but "HEAVEN OR HOLLYWOOD" and "LETTERS FROM LONDON" were great albums!!!I'm from Italy too and I bought both of them when I was about 17 and I could find the vinyls just came out (it was something like 1988/90),and they were very well done also in the graphics (..lyrics, style...).

I loved them so much and I played them a lot even at the radio where I worked at that age....strange that they didn't have the same success of many similar groups of that period with less less talent

  • @kialamj if you still want those first two LP's on vinyl i have multiple copies of them

  • @robfilardo

Hi...As I wrote I bought them .... now I've still got at home Letters from london vinyl, but I don't find "heaven or hollywood" any more (the cover was "hot" and probably some old friend of mine still have it in a box in his attic. We often lent each others our vinyls at that age...) and I never had "fifteen days..."

The problem is that you're in the USA and me in Italy...and probably only the shipping will cost a lot....

    Anyway, tell me how....

P.S. Are Uncle Sam still playing?

  • @kialamj Uncle Sam broke up in 1994 after releasing their 3rd record, "14 Women 15 Days'). Later that year US singer DAVE GENTNER formed a new band called THE VEINS who still conitnue to play, having 3 cds under their sweaty armpits

  • More Uncle Sam and Veins stuff please!

  • US was one of the country's greatest unsung bands of the early 90's. All 3 of their records are awesome, but the 1st one an incredible debut. like I've heard it said b4; these guys make Guns N Roses sound like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.

  • Ha. I know Scott cessna in person.

  • yeah good find!

  • Oh Larry.....

  • I love Uncle Sam! What happened to them?

    greetings from Italy
