What matters more to me is reading the bible as a whole and not plucking out all the lovely unoffensive verses and forgetting about the fact that Christ Himself taught more about HELL than He did HEAVEN. Anyone reading this: I implore you, read your whole bible. Don't rely on new age Christians like Webb and an occasional "verse of the day" to inform you about God. I dare you to read at least the entire Net Testament, including Revelation, and not reexamine your faith. Read 1 John. Etc.

I don't think I was too far off the mark, maybe a little. Paul shows grief over the churches sins in his letters; and I in no way am saying that they are not God Breathed Holy Spirit inspired. I'm just saying that you don't find Love the Sinner hate the sin in the Bible. He does however warn to treat sin like leprosy, something that can be contagious if you're not careful. Jesus talked about Greed 10 times more than he talked about Adultery. If we're going to hate others sin, lets start there.

WOAH THERE! You really should read Paul's letters and study Greek, Latin, and Hebrew before you further mislead them. The significance of the letters of His disciples is they were all inspired by the Holy Spirit when written and if this is not so, you may as well put the entire New Testament records of the Bible up as conjecture. To you're credit, the word "hate" in Luke and Pauline letters is a lazy translation. Rather it is miseo = separation or exclusion.

This is not to say that I think Christians should put down verbally or discriminate against homosexuals < both of which are not following Christ's example. We must hate the sin, but LOVE the sinner (which may be the point of the song, although it is pretty confusing on it's stance). But we must stand firm on God's unchanging word. We can't, as Christians, pick and choose what we believe from the Bible based on what's acceptable by today's standards, we must hold fast to God's standard.

As a Christian my first obligation is to the truth of the Bible, not the changing morality of a fickle culture. Romans 1:25-27 - "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error."
