You can thank Spider-man and his Amazing Friends for Wolverine's accent in "Pryde of the X-Men." From what I understand Marvel animation studios wanted some continuity between their shows. Since the X-Men appeared a few different times in "Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" the studio decided to keep with some of the ideas presented there, which unfortunately included Wolverine with an Australian accent ... which is not as bad as Kitty/Sprite's uniform in those episodes.
