Hi everyone, welcome to Fashion Unfolded! This is my first video uploaded, where I give an easy, how-to guide to engineering a basic fashion design as a modification to the 1 or 2-dart sloper. Please see Part 2 for the conclusion of this lession and look for more videos from Susan Elias Couture & Fashion Unfolded in the near future!

  • What would you want to see me demo next? Please let me know...Susan

  • feel free to contact me if you have any questions on this design!

  • @susaneliascouture I'm so glad I found this video. I'm a beginner. I've only done pants, boxers & cushions. I just got a body form for my B-day. I really want to design my own clothes starting with basic dresses, tops & casual bottoms. I'll say I'm sorry now because I will ask many very basic things that are so obvious to anyone who has done this before. Anyway, do you have that bottom dart pinned? it's hard to tell. what will u do w/the gathers you're pinning at the neckline?

  • @bb63786 Thank you for your comments. Sorry for the delay, Yes, the bottom dart is pinned, every 1/2" together. This is just a quick demo. I promise to make more videos with closer detail real soon.

Thanks again for your viewing and response. Best, Susan

  • such a lovely and helpful video. Thanks a lot for sharing it :) can you please show how to drape collars? Many thanks, Meera

  • i want to be a fashion desinger but i dont know how will this help?

  • @lepetitemonstre Thank you so much for replying and helping me understand. i'm a novice now but i really love fashion and truly desire to do this well. i genuinely appreciate the info! :-)

  • @DanieActsLke238 This is showing you how to drape a pattern. Muslin is used to make the pattern only. When you're done making the muslin, you cut your fabric out into the shape of the pattern as you would with a paper pattern piece! :)

  • this is an awesome video. but i dont quite understand something... what if i dont want that color fabric? what if i want a green top? i wont be able to see the tape underneath. did you turn the muslin inside out to do that? when you make that dart, do you sew along the line of the dart or do you pin it down?.

this is a blessing to learn to do these things.

  • stupid

  • I just subscribed to your video because I want to start designing my own wedding gown/b.m. dresses and I think your classes will help alot. Thanks

  • I really enjoyed your demos/tutorials. They had me wanting to see more. Your teaching style is very informative and flowed well. I've been designing my clothes off and on for years (I use the term "designing" loosely). I use the "make it work" motto; daring not to show the wrong side of many of the pieces. It was great to learn some fundamentals on the right way to make it work! I also can't wait to see more from you!

  • thanks for uploading this video... i learn a lot... more video please.. thanks again...
