it wouldn't matter. simply think about the minimum circumstances that would come with an alien invasion. not even a united humanity could defend the earth against a species that could cross the cosmos. our weapons would likely be completely ineffective, our strategies long prepared for, and tactics for our demise planned and perfected

it would be our fault. do you actually think that humans are ready for this kind of event??? no way... the way we treat each other is enough, we have not even evolved to the next level yet never mind interacting with species from another planet , imagine how prejudice we would be toward them.. i will say none of them could handle it.. as people are too paranoid and suspicious. watch the monsters are due on maple street old and new verison .. to see what we would do if it did happen

I dont't know any reral figures here but i'm guessing that the energy it takes to get here is far greater than the energy you could harvest from this solar system. Like i said, it just seems unlikely.

You're assuming that because they are higher in intelligence - but we are not. What makes you assume that because of their higher intelligence they won't see the logic in wiping us out? We are a destructive species and all they need do is see how we justify all of our destruction to ourselves; to conclude that extinction of our species would be a benefit for them and of this planet. Specifically if they were scavenging in particular.

yes, well, it's hard to say he hasn't thought things through properly so i'm going to assume this 'scavenger' scenario is one of the possible outcomes of alien contact. Although this is entirely plausible, i would still argue that higher forms of intelligence would be less likely to be hostile.
