can no game showcase the human race as superior to a possible alien breed? It is not certain that aliens would be any smarter than humans you know...

@forgottentilldeath for games like unreal, IMO, nothing beats pc. You just can't beat keyboard/mouse for FPS; maybe it's the superior level of control you get from laser precision mice, maybe it's the extra sets of commands you can execute on a keyboard: or maybe it's just that Unreal was designed with PC's in mind. I'm not knocking console-based FPS's, like GOW, just voicing my two cents.

@BaneOfLannister hmm, true. It would be boring to just command a bunch of forces to mow down a bunch of aliens :/

@frozenskipper I think it's just because, while the trick is old hat at this point, it's generally more exciting. Most cases, when we are superior the story is too preachy (Avatar, District 9), or dull (many episodes of Star Trek). The same applies when we are evenly matched in some cases. Although, the Aliens series is a good exception to that rule and an example of us being superior, but we still get our asses kicked though.

@BaneOfLannister Well, you're probably right. And you CLEARLY have more knowledge than me ;) But it seems that in most alien/sci-fi games, the humans seem to be doing a guerillja war against the aliens or whatever they are :/

@frozenskipper Actually in Gears,humans are the aliens. The Locust were there first, living underground. Their weapons and tech are mostly based on what was left behind by humanity, or what they could steal from us. So in truth they're about even with us armament-wise. I think what gave them their real advantage was sheer numbers and their physiology.

@BaneOfLannister Well, i played a bit of the first one, and never really got into the story. But clearly in this game, and others like GOW, the aliens are clearly superior, except for a few elite marines or something..

@frozenskipper Play the Mass Effect series. We're all about even. Some have better ships, others better armor, other's better weaponry but on the whole it's only experience that gives aliens an upper hand. The only races that are totally superior are the Geth and the Reapers, and the Reapers are superior to everything. There are also some primitive races even that are enslaved by other ones.
