So, Tamarlane, you are saying that we invaded a sovereign nation and overthrew its government and killed and maimed thousands of its people because we needed a base camp for future military strikes on the Mid-East? If that is the case then I am ashamed to be a veteran.

Just look at history and view the current conflict through the prism of war from WWI through WWII on to Korea and Vietnam. It has always been America and the West against tyranny, against socialism, against communism, against anything that enslaves people and for democracy and freedom. Without democracy and freedom, the US and the West cannot survive. This is what the Atayollahs of Iran want to impose on the world. And in the name of God (Allah). Secular democracy is apostasy to them.

Greatsatan (hard to have a logical debate with that name), you are taking the romantic look at this, making us out to be the John Wayne heroes of the world. The US has done great things, I do not disagree. But we also overthrew the leadership in Iran to put a vicious Shah back in charge, backed Saddam Hussien's coup in Iraq so he would fight Iran for US, let's not forget the Iran/Contra affair, etc. It is not always about Democracy and Freedom; sometimes we just promote war for gain.

So the next thing you know ol' John's a millionaire, sluttin' with his wife while she bleached her dirty hair, said Arizony is not the place you ought to be, so he shat in his pants and he spoke his devilry.

With apologies to the "Beverly Hillbillies": Come and listen to a story about a man named Cain, a gray-faced slut who could barely clean his crap stains, and then one day he was whorin' for some votes, so he sucked and he lied for those lobbyist dopes...Big-oil that is. Oil-whores, White house Tea. (cont).

And those regulations Clinton removed....drafted by and approved by Republicans. Most notably Phil Gramm, who until recently was running McCain's campaign and was his chief economic adviser. Remember him? The one who said that those complaining about the economy were a bunch of whiners.
