Newly Hatched Ducklings

The mama duck made her nest by the Women's Restroom near the 6th tee on our golf course. She recently hatch six adorable baby ducklings. (I hid behind a bush to film this)

@Nacholebre11 - Mama looks pissed because she can see the camera man and sees him as a threat to her babies. Once you see a mama puff up like that, smart move would be to back away and let her calm down.

My interest is in mother ducks' behavior. To test whether or not a mother duck has true love: (1) put her into a dangerous situation (e.g. stoning her) and force her to fly away (2) physically abuse her baby ducks (e.g. break their legs, tear off two little wings) so that they keep chirping and crawling (3) stand beside these baby ducks (4) see whether the mother duck has the courage to come back to protect her baby ducks. I've tested (1) - (4) in at least 30 occasions => NO mothers come back.

Note for next season: when ducks hiss like that, it means "back off, you are too close." A stressed mama duck is a bad mama duck to her young'uns.
