The Rolling Stones cover Waylon Jennings' song, "Bob Wills Is Still The King". This was recorded in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas during their 'A Bigger Bang' tour - October 22, 2006.

  • Yeah! This may not be the best version, but the Stones are showing some much deserved respect to Mr. Wills and Texas music! I'm still finding new reasons to love the Stones, this being the most recent!

  • I'd like to hear The Who or Zeppelin try this...only the Stones could pull it off...hats off to them!

  • ultimate respect and tribute texas music

  • Great job....I don't care waht anybody says when it comes to rock and roll "THE STONES" are still the king!

  • This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. What a hoot!

  • Great Post. One of my favorites.

  • Kudos to The Stones! They always show respect to the music that came before. This performance gives me chillbumps--the vintage Gibson and all. Mick does have Texas creds. He bought a ranch near Dallas and lived there for parts of the nearly 20 years that he and Jerry Hall were together.

  • Ronnie Wood plays pedal steel here and on other Stones country songs. You can see him on Far Away Eyes in the Martin Scorcese movie Shine a Light. He's been part of the Stones since 1975 when he replaced Mick Taylor.

  • @cowboyfromky Waylon is dead, did you not get the memo and The Stones did a great job of this song seeing as how they had never played it and only rehearsed it one time at soundcheck. Fuckn idiot

  • @earth2res2 He's just for the concert, his name is Wang Dang Doodle. Really good isn't he!

  • God Bless the Stones for paying tribute.

  • Los Stones podrían ser un grupo de Country perfectamente. Dominan este estilo y le dan un toque personal que a mí me gusta mucho. Buen trabajo Ronnie con el slide.
