The film is about the friendship between two deaf men in hospital. One is a cleaner, the other is a patient. Both are at different stages of their lives, and their friendship gives them a new perspective.
Written by Charlie Swinbourne, and directed by Louis Neethling, the film stars Hal Draper, David Sands, Patsy Palmer and Abigail Gorman,
The film is in British Sign Language (BSL) with English subtitles.
Departure Lounge was funded by the BSLBT (British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust) and shown on the Community Channel in the UK in October 2009.
Thank you for this beautiful film. The story is simple yet touching, the acting is superb and everything about it is just great. I love your more comedic stuff but this is simply an amazing piece of work. Thank you and take care! p.s. I'm not saying this *just* because of the deaf characters or the BSL, I loved it as a film, period. The fact that it's in BSL just makes it that little bit more special though :)
