It may be difficult to hear, but after I switched out the spark plugs on my Mustang, I hear a slight tick/hiss/sputter sound coming from around one of the cylinders (#4 to be exact). I also smell some gas in that area. No check engine light after driving for more than 50 miles straight. Think something is wrong?

Update: Simple fix, I just needed an indexing washer on one of my spark plugs.

  • where did u get the indexing washer at?

  • @j99ranger4x4, I actually I had a buddy fix me up with one. I believe you can pick them up from many automotive stores. Try AutoZone or O'Reilly Auto Parts.

  • im glad that you got that fixed do you think that getting new spark plugs is worth it do they give the car any power at all even if it is just like 1 or 2 hp

  • It's actually easy to hear if you know what the 4.0 is supposed to sound like. Glad it was a simple fix.
