dont we all learn from our mistakes? I wish I never wrecked the truck it was a pos though, holes in the floor needed new leafsprings body mounts fuel pump new front end after my brtother crashed it into a tree, and not to mention its a pos yet again. I upgraded to a 5.0 liter explorer and havent any issues worth talking about.

it was the midnight blue and silver mix it looked awesome when I got it. there was a point I almost dumped a few grand into it but quickly realized.

My exhaust was nicely removed by the previous owner so mine doesn't have a cat right now, just a piece of 2' pipe in its place then to a muffler which nicely ends right under the back of the passenger seat. Will be having the exhaust system replaced as soon as I get it running correctly. Just replaced the carburetor on it a couple weeks ago, so now it is starting to come together.

For offroad use I think you can remove the whole exhaust but I'd be careful about doing so due to the law.

Something else that may help with power too, is not putting oversized tires/wheels on it. My 84 Bronco 2 has oversized tires on it which I can tell slows it down some, but not too bad.

Removing the cat is actually illegal by federal law FYI. However, if you remove it, you gain a bit in power. Some bronco 2's had a belt driven smog pump which is on the lower side of the engine on the passenger side, that can be removed if it is on your vehicle. I would personally keep your exhaust system.

Removing the muffler, and/or the cats will actually give a bit more power as the exhaust is less restricted. The 2.9L engine was roughly 140HP stock, which the exhaust system with the cat and emissions crap takes about 5HP off that, plus your static power loss through the transmission if its automatic.

I have an 84 Bronco 2 that I picked up for $975 that runs and drives, just looks horrible due to some rust issues. Got most of the engine problems fixed, just rear main seal left to do.

I just bought a bronco 2 with the 2.9 v6 for $400 to go mudding with. When you cut off your tailpipe, did you lose any power due to lack of back pressure, or did it stay the same or help? Cool vid, thanks for posting.

I noticed your rear wheel was not spinning at first, My B2 has a Limited slip rear end and both lock up. Watching these videos make me want to get the Bronco II out again.
