This is a complete jump with the Prodigy 2 and FlySight.

The FlySight audio track comes from the jumper being filmed. The audio was reconstructed afterward, using information recorded during the jump, and then overlaid on the original video. The reconstructed audio track was produced by a FlySight, and recorded directly from its audio output, in order to make the reconstruction as authentic as possible. Synchronization was accomplished using the FlySight's LED, so the audio is as close as possible to real time.

The FlySight was in glide ratio mode with a maximum of 1.5:1. On this particular jump we had a significant headwind, but you can see that the tones produced by the FlySight still clearly identify changes in glide ratio resulting from slightly different body positions.

Andrew Levson is the man behind the camera. The jumper being filmed is Michael Cooper.

I wish that were true, if 5HZ weren't needed I'd be jumping my phone with a quick app right now. My last 150 jumps have been with GPS and 1HZ isn't useful. 125-200mph is just too fast. 3HZ minimum. I'm sure that's why the device in this video runs at 5HZ. Jailbreaking to grab 5HZ from the drivers is cool in theory but you aren't going to code that in 1-2 hours and skydiving needs 100% reliability. Hence this $250 device.

I don't think 5HZ is really necessary but with a jailbreak even that is possible on iPhone 3GS+

Why haven't you done that 1-2 hours of coding and made all that money yet? The app would sell to use regular skydivers as well as to wingsuit pilots. Tons of us have smartphones and we are used to spending crazy money. Course you will need GPS data at 3HZ minimum, better yet 5HZ like the Flysight, and you are not going to get it. As a programmer I know the joke, "I could do it in hour or two" means nothing will ever be done.

I don't own a XBox. Also I have no idea what the rest of your comment is about.

I didn't say I would sell the system for $40. Of course you have spent way more on this but it is possible to achieve this for around that amount. As I said before: it could easily be achieved as an iPhone app as well and tbh, I think that if there is a market for your product, there is also a market for that app (Android/Symbina/iOS/whatever mobile platform). Also FlySight is a security camera company as well.

Or I'll spend 1-2hours of coding and make an iPhone app for it. "The iPhone costs more than $250." is not an argument...

Great tool, but I don't see why this is so expensive. I think I could make the same system for ~$40.
