http://www.steviesnacks.com - Episode 12 of the StevieSnacks.com Video Podcast.

This episode teaches a technique that you'll hear used in songs like Cold Shot, Lenny, and plenty of other SRV tunes. Not very complicated, but a bit tricky considering you have to stop using your pick, but still hold onto it in your hand.

  • i hold the pick between the index and middle finger by the larger knuckle. only reason im saying this is because with that technique you can still pluck notes with all 5 fingers. only i noticed you werent plucking with the pick-holding finger. thanks!

  • @Jst0911 As with many things, there's often several ways to do it. Mine is certainly not the only way :-)

  • Dude Im 13 and I can reach that slide but that was a good lesson.

  • You must have some big hands my friend. Of course, it is easier higher up on the fretboard, but I find it a little tough lower down in the Aflat to Fsharp range.

  • @gr8bluesgtr your a living version of SRV himself and your much better than I at guitar, so i'd say your way is just fine

  • wow never knew what that technique was ....Thought i was the only odd ball doing it lol. So much for my lack of exposure . I play acoustic and mostly finger pick. I prefer to let my thumb nail remain longer instead of using a pick. Great for controlled bass lines. Very good lesson i might add ! Thanks for sharing .

  • @dotcarmine Yeah they are made of metal that doesn't rust. You must be using Ernie Ball Strings if you've never seen shiny strings before. Ernie Ball= black corroded strings! :)
