A final compilation video of demos for my VGA-producing FPGA-based VDU I designed for COMP22712 Microcontrollers in the university of Manchester. The VDU itself produces 640x480, 8-bit colour (i.e. 256 colours) at ~60Hz and simply displays the contents of one of two framebuffers. Running the demos is a virtualised ARM core (hence the ridiculously slow speed) as provided by the course.

The 1st demo shows the Mandelbrot set being slowly rendered on the ARM and displayed. Single buffering is used here...

The 2nd demo shows double buffering in action with a random GIF being loaded onto the screen (with speed again limited by the ARM and the rather simple interface it shares with the VDU itself).

The final demo shows a quick image loader (non-double buffered, again).
