  • Didn't know he played this live. Groovy stuff.

  • He loves doing Hendrix covers.

  • I think Eric really enjoyed playing that! But I was there that night!

  • So fucking great...

  • ''Eric's like, what, fifty something in this? ... It's kind of hard to compare him to hendrix who played at his prime.'

It's kind of hard to compare Clapton in this video to the Eric Clapton during his Cream heyday! :-) I'd have liked to have heard a version of Stone Free performed by Eric circa 1968.

  • 'Of course he's no Hendrix.... and by the same token Hendrix is no Clapton. What is it with you guys..?'

This may be news to you but Hendrix admired Clapton's playing. He asked Chas Chandler just before departing for England if he would introduce him to Eric when he arrived there. Jimi also went to see Cream concerts whenever he had a chance. THAT says a LOT.

  • Ah yes, the endless comparisons and debates as to who the greatest guitarist was/is bores me. Just listen to the music and enjoy! If not, there are countless other videos to watch. Having said that, the BEST live, album-like, performance of this song was done by Steve Webb & EXP a (defunct) band from Arizona circa 20 years ago. I can't post a link so you must do a YouTube search. Second best non-Hendrix performance of this song are those many versions on YouTube performed by Randy Hansen.

  • Eric's like, what, fifty something in this? ... It's kind of hard to compare him to hendrix who played at his prime. Don't get me wrong, hendrix is the better guitarist, but it's not as easy to make a fair comparison as most people seem to think.
