Hunger Games Nail Art - Katniss:The Girl Who was on Fire nails

So, here's a fun one, guys! I am SO going to the premiere of the Hunger Games next month, but I happen to have a gig tomorrow night and wanted fire nails for it, so I figured I'd try out the idea I had for my Hunger Games inspired nail tutorial. I figure this way, you can practice in plenty of time to have perfect nails for the movie. :o) Enjoy!

How in WORLD do you do your nondominant hand? I can usually do my left okay, but the right just looks like big blobs...you're a marvel :-)

@eezepeeze I make sure the heel of my left hand is stable and then I just take my time and do it slowly. :o) You get better with practice, but my right mani still never looks quite a great as my left mani. LOL.

Awesome! I'm practicing my mockingjay drawing skills so I can paint one on my nails as an accent. I don't want fire; I want a mockingjay! If none of my favorite nail gurus are going to give me mockingjay nails, I'll figure one out on my own!

@StellaLilly I tried a mokingjay - I couldn't do it...my hand painting skills just aren't up to par. It just kept being an indecipherable blob. I wish you luck!

@torrinpaige I'll send you a photo (if it comes out) when I try it. Currently, I'm wearing robin egg's blue nails with white hearts in celebration of my birthday, which was yesterday and I'm still loving them. The trick really is the brush you use; you need an eyeliner thin, short bristle brush. If I do it, it's going on one hand, because there's no way I'll be able to do it on my right hand! My left hand is really weak and would never be able to do it! Now I need orange polish. :)

@StellaLilly Oh, I have some thin brushes - I went to the hobby shop and I have one that you can hardly even see...lol..it's like eyelash thick, and yet, blobby paint. I'm just not very good at the handpainting...and that's OKAY! LOL.

I'm excited for the movie, but also worried! I don't think its possible to do justice to the books! I'll definitely try fire nails for the premiere :)

@torrinpaige Oh no, not that thin! That's horrifyingly thin! You have no control of the paint then! Eyeliner thin, eyeliner! More control of the paint and your hand. Even I, who's an artist by nature, can't control that thin of a brush. The brush can't hold any paint; hence the friggin' blobs. That's why I hate the nail art nail polish brushes. I can't control them or the paint. I get really mad at those brushes!
