@trha2222 What utter horseshit. You, like so many, continue to get this issue wrong. The issue is not that A person is guy and has to advertise to the consternation of other troops. Rather, it is about being able to serve your country in a professional manner without having to fear that you have to lose your job simply because people have a problem with who you fancy. And this is coming from a person who was not he other side of the issue when DADT was instituted in 1993.

@trha2222 Again horseshit. Trying to mask this as a safety issue is just cowardly and insincere. This is not about social experimentation. It's about being able to serve the country you love and are prepared to defend with your life and not being persecuted because what you do in your private life. Plus you are so lazy on your history that you missed the fact that President Truman was accused of social experimentation back when he mixed the Armed forces. Then we added women to the front.

You're pretty intelligent! I agree with you. If sex "doesn't belong in the military" then why should people in the military get paid extra for being married? What about military functions where soldiers are encouraged to bring their wives and spouses? If a male soldier posts a photo of himself kissing or holding hands with a female on his private facebook page, should he be kicked out? Straight people don't realize that they display their sexuality a million times everyday.

thanks for speaking out against homophobic politicans

@trha2222 Let's be clear. The problem is not the gays and their "wearing of their sexuality" on their uniform. The problem is your inability to be comfortable with people that happen to be gay. And before I get another bullshit response about how any sexuality is a distraction and certain things are given up when you take the oath, I can tell you that my family is military. I can tell you that it is quite the opposite, if it's the right type. And certain indiscretions are swept under the rug

You seem like a nice person but hopelessly naive. You want the world to be perfect. It isn't perfect. You want to foist your PC thinking on everyone and expect them to thank you for finally being enlightened. Are you that supremely arrogant that you think you know so much better than the rest of society what is proper? Look at the past 40 years. As modern liberalism has rise, society has decayed. That is more than a coincidence. I would call it a direct correlation.

DADT should never have existed in the first place? Really? You are that ignorant of history? Just recent history? Do you live in a bubble? It is not hiding who you are. It is protecting people who might now get targeted. I will tell you straight out. The military is the meanest, least politically correct place you can imagine. They are not in your classroom or your social Utopia you want to force on the rest of the world.

It is not a basic human right. Once you take the oath, you are a soldier or sailor or marine or airman. Understand? No one wears their sex on their sleeves but if they start, there's going to be bloodshed. Count on it.
do you think female and male soldiers should shower together, and sleep in the same quarters?

@Obamaphiliac Glad you asked. In an ideal world, what I would love to see happen is to have separate gendered quarters, but mixed as well for those who feel comfortable. It's also something I'd like to see outside of the military i.e. in restrooms - separate the genders for those who are really shy, but also allow people to mix. It's the best way to be trans-inclusive, and if it were to start soon, 20 or so years from now that would be "normal."
