It seems to me that alot of people do want the Tesco Express because today (2/9/2011) the shop was packed out. Anyway where were all of you when Mr Aubrey had a sign in his shop. Use it or lose it, He had to close because not alot of people used it, So we lost the fruit & veg Shop. I'm glad that Tesco is in the village.

@sortorosso I wouldn't bother fighting with Nscsmr because he works for tesco XD

@nscsmr btw you may want to get rid of the about me part which states "Tesco area manager"

just putting my point across. how many pubs are there in somersham? do you really think the loss of one pub is going to make a difference. being at the age where i need money and a job, a tesco is a opotunity for new jobs. So what if some small shops go out of business, thats life, either way it goes some people will lose jobs, people are trying to make things easier for us and our village and you lot are pushing that help away? i'm 16 and don't like change, but this is pathetic. tesco ftw.

I wonder how many of these protesters actually live in the village and USE the village shops they say they want to protect?? I would guess most of them drive to Tesco at Bar Hill or Huntingdon to shop. Well, not everyone has a car or can drive so would welcome Tescos, especially the more elderly residents who cannot easily get access to the Rainbow or Tescos stores.
These protesters are out of touch with the reality of modern living. The day of the independent shop keeper in a place the size of Somersham are well and truly over. They are increasingly scratching a living in an ever hostile environment. Most locals don't use the local shops anyway. The only leverage you have is that you should make it conditional for Tesco to take on the local post office, as once they lose their supplementary trade you will lose that too. And don't use your kids to protest.
