The birds and the bees....aquatic style

So, this was the first time I got my bettas to spawn and was really excited about it, however, following the big event, my female died...probably too stressed. Then my male died...thankfully after his job caring for the little ones was done. BUT...then my fry made it about 2 months before they all died too....totally my fault. School got the best of me and i didn't change the water enough :( Lesson of the story...if you get this far and your betta spawn, don't get your hopes up. or don't be an idiot like me and literally count the eggs before they hatch! :) So, you can ask me any questions you'd like but like i've been stressing, i'm no pro so don't expect me to know everything. I won't answer it unless i know for sure though :)

  • HOW DO THEY HAVE SEX.?

  • you know you got me. technically they don't... but honestly I just chose that title to see if ratings went up because of it. Worth a shot right? lol

  • i am sorry that he died but if I may ask was the bright colorfull betta from a petstore that had them in a plastic container

  • Yep, they both were from good ol' walmart plastic containers. I actually only bought the male because I felt sorry for him. They accidentally put two males in the same container. I didn't try to breed them until I brought them into condition and they were healthy. They were both completely white when i bought them and by the time they were conditioned all that color came out . it surprised me how much they changed. So don't bet that they're to their full potential in those containers!

  • Awwh your fish were cute. Sorry that they passed though. I had a male Betta and he didn't last long either ; he passed on November 7 in the morning, just laying on his side.

RIP, Rest in Paradise my little sweetheart. I Love you no matter what -3

  • @annagurl7854 the male spreads out some typ of sperm next to were the female lays out eggs and the eggs fertelise that way

  • i ejaculated

  • OK... there are two misconcpetions in the comments. The first is that the fish die; they r actually having sex- however the way they do it makes them look dead. The second is that the male appears to be eating the eggs- he is actually stuffing them in his mouth and placing them at the surface (you can see it doing this at the very end of the video). Look it up at fish breeding sites or Wiki.
