We all love the firesteel and it is probably irreplaceable in my pack. Great tip with the jute twine. I thought also if you braid enough twine into it you can save one piece of string to re-tie the igniter to the firesteel, using the rest for tinder in a survival scenario. This is a good way to put the spark and the tinder together.

Good point about this being a flash tinder. You'd have to work quick if this was the only tinder available, but doable : ) Great intro from FloridaAdventures
Thanks Buddy

Great tip! To keep the jute dry I wonder if you could run the twine through a small plastic hose. Something like aquarium tubing. Or dog tag chain silencer. Then seal it together with heat. Just an idea maybe?
