"Neurologists use the term paresis to describe weakness, and plegia to describe paralysis in which all movement is lost." Even using the loosest definition, requiring only loss of a muscle group to qualify as plegia, that man in the video had a full range of motion with his extremities. There not debate here, I'm not sure why you are trying to, or where you are getting your facts from. If you came in with a chart saying this man is a quadriplegic, I would suspend you instantly.
@bmwpia1 You are the one who is off. Paralysis is the complete or PARTIAL loss of motion or sensation. Look it up anywhere. You need to check your facts before you get condescending. Dumb fucking bitch.
@xPaintballinx Are you a clinician of any type, because if you were I would hope you know -plegia is a COMPLETE loss of voluntary motor function (quadriplegic). -paresis would be a weakening or impairment of voluntary motor function. (quadraparesis). Please check your facts before you say something stupid.
As I sad regardless of the exact nature of this man's disability, the action taken aghainst him were extremely wrong.
@bmwpia1 He IS a QUADRIPLEGIC. The definitions is "IMPAIRMENT of all four limbs." Even a C5 complete can still use certain muscles in the arms to make them move.
Am I the only one who realizes that he is NOT a QUADRIPLEGIC. Quadriplegia is by definition "paralysis of both arms and both legs," and is caused by a disruption of the spinal cord somewhere in the cervical spine region. He clearly has the use of his arms, therefore he is not a quadriplegic even if he is experiencing paralysis of his torso, he would still be a paraplegic.
That said, what happened to this gentleman is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.
@brassmonkeyjew you know they make cars with hand controls for disabled people....what the fuck kind of retard dumps a person in a wheelchair like that....get serious pal...
They're just doing their jobs. Looks like a pretty routine frisk and shake down to me. How could they have known he was actually a quad (he was driving a car after all!)
