Cracking along at 6 kts close-hauled - bit of a fairground ride which lasted 8 hours. Because of speed we could raise centreplate by 1/3 to reduce wetted area (= speed) whilst still reducing leeway. Don't believe all the (UK) prejudice you hear about centreboarders (or aluminium boats...)
