2012 Pigasus Awards Announcement

Since 1997, the JREF's annual Pigasus Awards have been bestowed on the most deserving charlatans, swindlers, psychics, pseudo-scientists, and faith healers—and on their credulous enablers, too. The awards are named for both the mythical flying horse Pegasus of Greek mythology and the highly improbable flying pig of popular cliche. These are the awards for 2012.

If you can produce scientific evidence of whatever it is you're trying to prove, I bet mr. Randi would accept it. The problem with all you people who are claiming that Randi won't accept your scientific evidence is that you don't actually have any scientific evidence to show!

I appreciate criticism and much of Randi's past work. What I do not appreciate -and what does not reflect the true nature of scientific inquiry- is ridiculing a person and their position on a subject when you disagree with them (by giving them Pigasus Awards, making snide comments, etc).

This approach is a pseudo-scientific publicity stunt. Maybe we'll be able to move science forward when respectful and constructive criticism is given to those who have the courage to look into these areas.
