No its not, You can install linux on the ps3 with support form sony, the gameos has support for seting up a second partition on to the hdd and with that function you can install linux. Its all in the guide thats in the video info.

hey man... question...
when you install linux can you still access all the same content on both OS's...
eg. one folder of music available on XMB is also available when i go to Linux, or do I have to choose a particular partition?
