Lyrics. Guess as a lover I have a ways to go.
When someone wants you they should just say it's so
But you'll understand if you'll take my hand
Then we can dance real slow to something on the radio

Listen to the radio, oh listen to the radio
Let's spend the night together
Baby don't go, they sing it on the radio

I try to find a way to explain to you
What's on my mind and not sound so plain to you
but you'll realise if you close your eyes
the feelings my words can't show
They're playing on the radio

Listen to the radio, oh listen to the radio
Let's spend the night together
Baby don't go, they sing it on the radio

The words I'd say don't seem to sound as real
The songs they play, that's how I really feel

So listen to the radio, oh listen to the radio
Let's spend the night together baby don't go
They sing it on the radio

Don Williams (born May 27, 1939 in Floydada, Texas), is a country singer and songwriter. He grew up in Portland, Texas and attended Gregory-Portland High School, from which he graduated in 1958. After seven years with the folk-pop group Pozo Seco Singers, he began his solo career in 1971, singing popular ballads and amassing 17 number one hits.
His straightforward vocals, soft tones, and an imposing build earned him the nickname "The Gentle Giant" of Country Music.
Without a doubt Williams, whose hits with the likes of Good Ole Boys Like Me, I Believe In You, Love Is On A Roll, Amanda, Tulsa Time and Listen To The Radio has always had a knack for finding songs that speak directly to people's hearts.

  • what happened to popular music? it lost soul,empathy,nostalgia...signifigance. afraid its gotten pretty mean and superficial out there, peace.

  • love your voice....wonderful

  • love his music, and the lyrics are so true

  • @Tennesseanyankee I agree with you. The kids today, the music, everything is phony, not real. The golden

age of country was also during the golden age of rock and roll. They didn't rely on computers, all sorts of

computer generated background, and loud almost yelling music. I guess the slower, gentler, real times have

past. I hope they come back because I think the kids of today are missing a whole lot.

  • one of the best singers in all life time, so much heart and soul in these songs .... i grew up on this kind of music Alot of good childhood memories ...
