It's the British lion trampling on the German eagle. It was originally on the war memorial post-WW1, but when the memorial was moved to the church yard, this part was deemed unsuitable. I think it actually disappeared for some years, and was rediscovered. It's now on display elsewhere in the town.

Thank you for uploading this in HQ. Just one question- what is the story and significance behind the Lion trampling on the Griffin at 3:16? Hope to visit this summer.
