My 18-month old absolutely loves Anpanman. She goes on about it all the time. This made her evening. And mine, since it had subtitles! I was able to understand a fair bit of the Japanese, surprisingly, but it really helped to clarify a lot of things for me. :)

OMG, subtitles for Anpanman?! :D wow!!! I know enough Japanese to follow the main plot and know whats happening but having subtitles for this show is so cool! :D first time I see it.

The more I watch these, the more I want Anpanman to get beaten up, but when it does happen, I just feel sorry for him because of all of the CRAP he has to deal with daily and he's still polite.
