After 7+ months of flying in the Bell Jetranger / TH67 Creek down in Southern Alabama I returned to Hayesville, NC to help prepare the wedding site for the upcoming weekend. While there I took Don's wife Deb up for her first lesson in flying a helicopter. That first flight is always a question for everyone, including me as the instructor what might happen.

Good times! It was a big change from flying over flat land with full helmet and flight suit to flying in shorts and flip flops with a Bose headset over the beautiful landscape of the NC mountains. It was almost sensory overload.

  • Errm..

  • Sorry I must disagree with some of your statements in this video..

If a student asks to fly the 44... let them.. it will build confidence, when they have mastered the basics... then take them back to the manual flight controls of the 22

  • The best instructor in the Southeast! Guess who taught me??

  • This vid just got me psyched up!!!! I can't wait, i'm starting school in Prescott az this january and the r22 is what i'll be learning in. The q/a after the flight was great info.

  • Why are the blades still turning with no-one at the controls?? CUNT!

  • I really want to know how you started to fly Michael. Were you in the military? Is there a way to soften the blow of flight school? I'm very interested in flying... Any info/help is greatly appreciated.

  • Watch out, those blades are still turning!

  • This was really good thx, looking at starting in a r22 myself soon..

  • cool----you getting married?

  • Nice video. Congratulations on flight school. I've tried for 20 years to get into W.O.F.T. at Rucker, but my 20/400 vision kept me out. So, I got my commercial helicopter license August 2nd 2011. I had laser surgery, but turned 40 on Labor Day so I'd need a miracle to get an age waiver. Keep up the good work. I am a Sergeant stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Take care and fly safe! SGT V
